The practice is situated in a\u00a0<strong>central, private setting in Grahamstown\/Makhanda, Eastern Cape, South Africa.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Psychological assessment and treatment<\/strong> is offered to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Children (preschoolers and up) and parents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adolescents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Young Adults\/Students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adults<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Couples<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Families<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Older Adults<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Psychological assessment and psychotherapeutic treatment is offered for a&nbsp;<strong>wide range of concerns<\/strong> including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Children:<\/strong> anxiety, oppositional and defiant behaviour, divorcing parents, starting school, struggling at school, ADHD, anger outbursts, and sadness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adolescents:<\/strong> anxiety, depression, peer group belonging, relationship and intimacy issues, problematic eating and weight issues, group based Aptitude, Subject Choice, and Tertiary Study and Career assessments, as well as individual Scholastic, Careers, and IEB Concession testing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Young Adults\/Students:<\/strong> adjustment to university and leaving home, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, study stress, alcohol, and substance abuse, eating disorders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adults: <\/strong>depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, work stress, bereavement, post-traumatic stress, phase of life changes, alcohol and substance abuse, eating disorders, and weight management problems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Couples:<\/strong> preparation for marriage, conflict resolution, intimacy difficulties, recovery from infidelity, dealing with divorce, impact of addictions, and the impact of overworking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Psychological treatment is offered in <strong>English, Afrikaans, and isiXhosa<\/strong>.&nbsp;Treatment ranges from&nbsp;<strong>brief and focussed interventions<\/strong> to&nbsp;<strong>longer, in-depth work<\/strong>.&nbsp;Treatment in collaboration with&nbsp;<strong>Psychiatrists<\/strong> and where necessary&nbsp;<strong>hospitalisation<\/strong> is facilitated.&nbsp;<strong>Careers testing<\/strong> is offered by Verna Connan and Elzeth Neethling. We support <strong>direct electronic claiming<\/strong> from all medical aid schemes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Psychological Care Centre was founded by Mary Donnelly, Martin Donnelly, and Mariaan Mavro in 2007.
